Cremation - The wave is coming driven by costs and babyboomers.

The funeral industry in the US is shifting toward cremation at such an alarming rate, that many traditional funeral homes are getting left behind.  The current economic situation in the US is the number one reason that  cremation has almost doubled in the last 15 years.  The baby boomer generation are also helping the trend by choosing to not spend their savings on expensive traditional funerals.  According to the NFDA, the average cost of a funeral is now $7300, and many people have decided that this is just far too much to be spending in these troubling times.

Some funeral companies are what consumers are saying and opening separate low cost cremation companies to deal with this change.  One such company is DFS Memorials, a national network offering "direct cremations" for between $495.00 and $1395.00.  DFS Memorials is part of the US Funerals Online group who have been running a funeral guide and directory site since 2003.  US Funerals has a guide to help with the planning of a funeral or cremation, together with a section are sending flowers to a funeral service
